Jason Townsend

Department of Recreational Sports

An MSU C-CERT member since November, 2011, Jason Townsend is currently an Associate Director within the Department of Recreational Sports, where he also served as Fitness Director since 2007. Jason holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from Mississippi State (B.S., Education/Fitness Management ’02; M.S., Sports Administration ’04) and spent several years as the Campus Recreation Coordinator at Temple University prior to returning to MSU. In addition to his professional responsibilities, family life, and his work with MSU C-CERT, Jason volunteers his time and provides leadership within several university based and community affiliated organizations, including Starkville in Motion, the Maroon Volunteer Center, the Mississippi Youth Preparedness Initiative (MyPI) and the Division of Student Affairs Staff Development Team. His training includes Campus CERT and Teen CERT certification, First Aid/CPR and AED, Bloodborne Pathogen, Bomb Threat Response, and Wilderness and Remote First Aid, among others.
